Junior Ballet

Junior Ballet 1 - Ages: 4+
Time: Saturdays - 8.30am-9am 
We learn the foundations of Ballet technique, partner work, and creativity within dance too. At this age Ballet is important for improving balance, concentration, alignment, posture and more. IDTA exams (rosettes) are available for children in this class. 

Junior Ballet 2 - Prep-G1
Time: Saturdays - 9am-9.35am
We build upon the foundations taught in the younger Junior Ballet class, and develop our technique and performance skills at a further level. IDTA exams (Preparatory & Primary) are available for children in this class.

Intermediate & Advanced Ballet

Intermediate Ballet - Ages: Level/Grade dependent
Time: Saturdays 11.10am-11.55am
We build on the foundations learnt at Junior level, and begin to incorporate Barre work, centre work, strength and flexibility training, whilst developing technique and performance skills. 
As the grades develop the skill/agility level required in the Ballet work increases. IDTA exams are available for children in this class. 

Advanced Ballet & Pre/Pointe - Ages: Level/Grade dependent
Time: Saturday 12.40pm-2pm
This class helps dances progress into more complex technical Ballet work whilst nurturing each individual's artistry of movement. Advanced level learning builds on the intermediate level content and begins to prepare the dancers for elite level performing and specialist skills such as En Pointe work. IDTA Exams grade 3/4 upwards are available in this class.

Junior Street Dance

Saturdays - 9.40am-10.25am
Ages: 5+ years 
An inclusive class catering for those who are beginners and those working towards joining the intermediate level. This class concentrates on the fundamentals of Street Dance, such as popping, locking, house, commercial and elements of breaking using floor work.
Participants are encouraged bring their own 'flavour' to class, work as a team, and most importantly have fun!

Intermediate Street Dance

Saturdays - 10.25am-11.10am

This is the next step up from Junior Street Dance, where dancers are growing and progressing in technical elements, performance quality, and all round knowledge of the style and it's roots/history. Dancers take on more complex and challenging material, work with more advanced rhythms and floor patterns, and work to develop stamina too. 

Advanced Street Dance

Saturdays - 11.55am-12.40pm 
Ages: 11-18 years
Aimed at participants who have previous experience of street dance/commercial styles, this class continues the progression route of street dance provision at the Academy. The group work on various hip hop and street dance techniques to an advanced level, and work to enhance performance skills and technical skills alongside expressivity, and body control. The group learn how to freestyle as well as being involved in the creative process for developing and performing new works at local performance platforms. Team work is key in this class.

Contemporary Dance

We offer monthly workshops in Contemporary Dance for students age 8-18 years. These are usually once a month during term times, and in the summer holidays. The classes explore creativity skills alongside various contemporary dance techniques, and are aimed at current students and newcomers. Contact us to find out our Contemporary Workshop dates.

B.O.S.S


B.O.S.S stands for Build our Skills Sessions. This is an additional class for any enrolled dancer wishing to attend where they can experience different styles and genres of dance. We launched this class in February 2022 with much success and have covered styles such as modern and jazz, musical theatre dance, lyrical, tap, country & western, conditioning, jive and Lindy hop.

This has allowed our dancers to develop their understanding of the dance industry and expand their technical and performance skill knowledge. This group work to develop and rehearse the opening number of our annual shows.

THURSDAY EVENINGS:

6.15pm-6.45pm TAP (ages 6+)

6.45pm-7.45pm ACRO (ages 9+)

7.45pm-8.30pm LYRICAL (ages 9+)

HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS

As the Dance Academy grows, so does our offering of different dance genres.

We have successfully run summer workshops in Circus Aerial (hoop and silks) with Circus Starlight Official, and Lyrical, Acro, Commercial, and Flexibility.
